Ant’s secrets

What secrets does an ant whisper to
The peony bud as it slumbers
On its delicate stem?

It whispers its longing and
The infinity of the night sky and
The luminous courtship of fire flies

It whispers clouds and dew and
The sweet smell of pink and
The universe in a tear drop

It whispers leaves and breath and
Flying and metamorphosis and
The miracle of compost

It whispers a blinding wild ribbon
Around its green heart to awaken
Its desire to tear open before dying
