Quantum memory

It’s not that you forget or
That you say things at inappropriate times
It’s not that she sometimes gets annoyed with your
Dog-like devotion and need
It’s not that you are a broken record
Spinning the same tales of your past glory

It’s that your mind is no longer
Encumbered by the constraints of
It’s that you no longer abide by the
Ordinary laws of space-time
It’s that time — like your brow —
Has become wrinkled
And you are a traveler in its
Quantum folds

It’s just that we are all alone without a map
On this side of your
Timeless adventure and
Confused by the feeling of your hand in ours
We cower in the corners of
Your reflection
