Your words

This poem is a tribute to one of my favorite poets, Marie Howe. Some of the words and phrases are borrowed from her poems.

Your words are the taste of
A favorite salty bird that every morning
Screams Oh Holy Mother

Your words are a knife
Sunk deep in my abdomen
The handle warm with my blood

Your words are love in the meadow
That has never been like this
The sun just on the other side of noon

Your words are the big bang
And the breath that explain
My existence

Your words are the everyday
We speak of
And every one changes my life
